Five Finnish acts will take the stages at ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) between 16–19 January 2019 in Groningen, the Netherlands. Finland’s line-up consists of bombastic pop metallers Battle Beast (pictured above), modern rock fivesome Blind Channel, grandiose indie rockers The Holy, hotly tipped singer-songwriter Lxandra (who is also one of the winners at this year's Music Moves Europe Talent Awards) and upcoming electronic producer Mio.
Battle Beast

Self described "Masters of party power metal", Battle Beast released their latest and fourth album Bringer of Pain in 2017. For almost a decade Battle Beast, nowadays led by frontwoman Noora Louhimo, has been touring throughout Europe, North America and Asia almost nonstop – and has thus become a well oiled metal machine that is guaranteed to rock the audience, no matter whether it's a club, arena or a festival. Battle Beast's fifth album No More Hollywood Endings will be out on March 22 and their calendar already boasts with a six-week, 33-show trek around Europe in the spring.

Lxandra is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter, who already has a record deal under her belt, and recently caused a stir with her gentle piano ballad "Hush Hush Baby". Soon after that Lxandra moved from her home in small Finnish island of Suomenlinna to loud and colourful Berlin, Germany. Her first single "Flicker" was released in early 2017 and has nearly reached the 1 million mark on Spotify. In her songs, Lxandra combines electronic influences with classical piano, while powerful choruses meet atmospheric, gentle sounds. Right now, Lxandra is working on her debut album. Mio
Thursday 17 January
Simplon, Up
20:00 – 20:45
Mio is the new solo project/alter ego of Mia Kemppainen (LCMDF). With a strong emphasis on the visual side, Mio delivers glossy electronic pop with inspiration stemming from artists such as M83 and Porter Robinson. Mio's songs have been said to take the listener on a hyper-active dream trip. At the front there is Mio, a melancholy figure who cannot seem to find her place in the world, swathed in mystical melodies, she balances on the line between dream and reality, determined to find her true origins. The shows mix illustration and 3D-graphics to bring the universe of Mio fully alive.

The Holy
Friday 18 January
Vrijdag
00:15–01:00
Helsinki-based quintet The Holy rely on a massive sound (backed by two drummers!) and explosive, adrenaline-filled stage antics. Their brand of epic indie rock has been championed by bands such as The War on Drugs and Arcade Fire, but The Holy’s songs have enough potential to fill stadiums on their own one day. The Holy released their highly anticipated debut album Daughter in September 2018, which supplies a whole lot of drums, deep lows, airy guitars and Eetu Henrik Iivari’s passionate singing. The songs draw from the balance between dark and light, with moments of deep anxiety exploding into rapturous, glorious hope.
