Apocalyptica earns gold and platinum in the US

Apocalyptica has reached a new milestone with its first RIAA-certified Gold and Platinum releases. The cello metal pioneers celebrate their first-ever U.S. certifications on a tour of Latin America.

One of Finland’s most successful musical exports, Apocalyptica has received its first-ever precious metal certifications in the United States. The band’s hit single “I Don’t Care,” featuring Adam Gontier, has now been certified Double Platinum. At the same time, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has also awarded Apocalyptica Gold certifications for both their 2007 album Worlds Collide and the single “Not Strong Enough,” featuring Brent Smith.

“Reaching Gold and Platinum status in the United States took time, but that only reflects the way we’ve always moved forward: steadily and with determination. Maybe not the fastest route, but certainly a patient and purposeful one. It also shows that we’ve had the privilege of reaching new audiences throughout all these years,” the band states in their press release.

The core Apocalyptica trio of Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen and Perttu Kivilaakso is currently wrapping up a South American tour that will continue for another couple of weeks. The band will return to Latin America again in January.

Last month, Apocalyptica released “Upperhand,” the theme song for CONTROL Resonant, featuring guest vocals from Katrine Stenbekk of the Norwegian alternative folk band Kalandra. Read more about the Control Resonant soundtrack here and watch the song’s music video below.
