Finnish video game company Remedy Entertainment has collaborated with Helsinki-based music production company Fried Music and music publisher Nordic Music Partners on "Zoe’s Mixtape", a six-track collection created for Remedy’s brand-new game CONTROL Resonant. Also the game's theme song "Upperhand" was made by a Finnish music legend, Apocalyptica.

The collaboration brings together Remedy’s game development team – known from successful products such as Alan Wake and the first entries in the Max Payne franchise – and two Finnish music companies for an original soundtrack written and produced specifically for one of this year’s most anticipated video games, Control Resonant. A sequel to the 2019 game Control, Control Resonant is now available for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox.

The songs are presented through the character Zoe, a Federal Bureau of Control handler who shares music with protagonist Dylan Faden at different points in the story. The tracks are intended to contribute to the atmosphere of Dylan and Zoe’s journey.

The first song released from the collection was “Manalan Mailla”, featuring Finnish artist Vilma Jää. The album’s other contributors include Frida Amundsen, Teemu Brunila, Jean Castel, Teemu ”Heviteemu” Javanainen, Lucas ”Averagekidluke” Kihlman, Jurek Reunamäki, Antti “RZY” Riihimäki, Sakima, Joona ”Skywalk” Pietikäinen, and Jussi Tiainen. Meanwhile, cello metal legends Apocalyptica have released “Upperhand,” a song that serves as the game’s theme song, featuring Katrine Stenbekk, vocalist of Norwegian alternative folk band Kalandra. The game’s score, composed by Petri Alanko, also represents Finnish musical craftmanship.
