This spring’s pop, rock, indie, electronic and metal albums
Not only do April showers bring May flowers, but also many interesting albums on the field of pop, rock, electro, indie and metal. Read the list of this spring's new and noteworthy albums below!
Love metal pioneers HIM return with their eight album Tears on Tape in April. The album will be released on April 29 in the UK & Ireland via Cooking Vinyl’s rock imprint DoubleCross, and on April 30 in the US & Canada via Razor & Tie. Last week Von Hertzen Brothers released their latest album Nine Lives, which went to no. 31 on the UK rock album chart this week. The Finnish hard rock scene is feeling alive as well: Lordi released To Beast or not to Beast last week in US and Canada and next month the glam rock group Santa Cruz will drop out their aptly titled debut album Screaming For Adrenaline.
The EBBA winning indie rock outfit French Films release their highly anticipated second album, White Orchid, in Europe, Japan and China during the first week of May. Black Lizard, who combine hypnotic and psychedelic rock with 1970s primitive protopunk, will release their debut album on the 5th of April. The album was produced by The Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe.
Meanwhile on the electronic field, Husky Rescue return with a new album titled The Long Lost Friend, which will be released in Scandinavia on 12th of April followed by a UK, European and rest of the world release date set on 3rd of June. The dark and sexy Femme en Fourrure, who describe their music as ”music made for DJs and catwalks” are set to release their debut album 36-26-36 via UK based Convex Industries. After a long hiatus, the experimental dubstep duo Clouds recently released a new mini album USB Islands via UK label Ramp Recordings. Also, don't forget Paperfangs, who released their dream pop effort Past Perfect last month.
Amorphis, the household name of Finnish metal, take a step away from the Finnish national epic Kalevala on their 11th record Circle, which will be released via Nuclear Blast on April 19. Finntroll’s new album Blodsvept, released March 22, will keep metal audiences headbanging nonstop through this summer’s festivals. Thrash metal youngsters Lost Society released their Metal Hammer approved debut album Fast Loud Death via Nuclear Blast in Europe March 18, which will be followed by a US release date set for April 2. The Finnish thrash/death metal heavyweight Deathchain will release their sixth work Ritual Death Metal on April 5th.
