Reija Lang interprets music by Cannonball Adderley on the new Big Band album
A long time big band project led by jazz vocalist Reija Lang has finally seen the day of light. The new album Reija Lang & Arricone Big Band, With special guest Riku Niemi, Arranger & conductor Erno Tiittanen is inspired by the 60’s hard bop legends Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley.
Erno Tiittanen’s arrangements mix the soundscapes of Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderley Quintet album (1961) and an instrumental album by the same quintet, Them Dirty Blues, together. The combination is wrapped in to a modern big band sound with soulful vocals by Reija Lang.
Vocalist Reija Lang prefers to improvise, explore new ways of using human voice and sounds, and combine them to a theatre style of a performance.
Reija Lang & Arricone Big Band, With special guest Riku Niemi, Arranger & conductor Erno Tiittanen is released by Hub Productions.
Meanwhile one of Reija Lang’s other projects, Reija Lang New Trio, is heading to China. The trio is to perform at Hanai International Jazz Festival in October.
