Playlist: The gloomiest songs from the happiest country in the world
For the 7th consecutive year, Finland takes the top spot as the happiest country in the world according to the WHR (World Happiness Report) survey! You wouldn’t believe it based on this playlist.
Finland remained the happiest country in the world for the seventh year a row with nordic neighbors Sweden, Denmark and Iceland also retaining their places in the top 10, according to the annual World Happiness Report published on Wednesday March 20th.
The World Happiness report, produced by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network in partnership with the Ernesto Illy Foundation, analyzes life evaluations and emotions, both positive and negative. This year the report ranked 156 countries by how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be, according to their evaluations of their own lives.
While the survey clearly states that we are in fact (like Ace of Base neatly put it in the 1990s) living in a happy nation, we do know how to channel our gloomy side into music. Whether it’s doom metal, folk, contemporary music or even the most legendary domestic rock group – this playlist truly showcases Finns’ love for melancholy and sadness.
