Music Finland embarks on export trips in Japan, Korea and the UK

This week Music Finland embarks on three different networking trips around the world. The yearly Nordic collaboration event Hokuo Music Fest and trade mission takes place this week in Japan, a delegation of Finnish publishers sets foot in Korea and a group of contemporary music professionals explores the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in England.

Since 2013, Music Finland has organized Hokuo Music Fest in collaboration with the Nomex network – Export Music Sweden, Music Export Denmark, Music Norway and Iceland Music Export. This year, Hokuo Music Fest will be held between November 12-15. The event will again bring together Nordic and Japanese music companies representing different genres and sectors of the industry. 

This year's Nordic delegation includes 28 companies and other organisations: management, record labels, publishing companies agents, export offices.

The program includes a trade day, a seminar day, a songwriting camp with Nordic and Japanese songwriters and producers (made in collaboration with Sony Music Publishing Japan) and networking . On Friday Hokuo Music Fest culminates with Loud & Metal Mania showcase (produced in collaboration with Creativeman) with the bands Ember Falls (Finland), Liv Sin (Sweden), South Haven (Denmark), Urkraft (Denmark).

Contemporary music professionals visit Huddersfield Festival

Between November 15–17, a Finnish delegation consisting of a dozen composers, musicians and festival directors will visit the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in England. The tour will mainly focus on networking and concerts.

Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival is one of the most important contemporary music festivals in the world, with a history of over 40 years. Specialized in experimental and avant-garde music, the festival's artistic director is Graham McKenzie. This year marks the second time a professional delegation selected by Music Finland makes a networking trip to Huddersfield.

Music publishers make an export trip to Soeul 

An export tour tailored for music publishers will embark in Soeul, Korea between 17–20 November. The trip is organized together with Danish and Swedish publishers.

During the journey, a Nordic delegation of 16 publishing professionals will delve deeper into the Korean music market and best practices in the country's publishing field. The program includes a roundtable discussion, a small seminar session, company visits to major Korean record and publishing companies, as well as a networking event.
