Finnish nominees in the Gramophone Awards shortlist

Gramophone Classical Music Awards are widely considered the most significant awards in the field of classical music in the world. The nominees for 2024 have now been shortlisted, the list revealing several Finnish names.


The album Bartók Piano Concertos, where Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, is nominated in the Concerto category.

Finnish nominees are also to be found in the Contemporary category, one of the nominees being the concert recording by Radio France of Kaija Saariaho's works Kaija Saariaho: Maan Varjot, Chateau de l'Ame, True Fire, Offrande (collection Presences) and the other being the album Seppo Pohjola String Quartets Nos 5-7 where the New Helsinki Quartet performs Seppo Pohjola's compositions.

Asmik Grigorian's Strauss album Vier letzte Lieder, where Mikko Franck conducts the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, is nominated in the Vocal category.

The prestigious Gramophone Awards are presented by the British record publication Gramophone and given in multiple categories to the best recordings of the year.
