Get to know the four Finnish acts performing at Eurosonic 2023

Four Finnish acts will take over the stages of Groeningen’s Eurosonic this January! Read more about the acts below.

This year, Finland’s line-up consists of modern rockers Cyan Kicks, crossover violin phenomenon Elia Lombardini, rising pop rapper Averagekidluke and ethno techno outfit Suistamon Sähkö (pictured above).

Cyan Kicks

Helsinki-based quartet Cyan Kicks plays energetic electronic rock in the vein of Pvris and Chvrches, with a touch of northern melancholia. Susanna Alexandra's emotive vocals soar clean, tempered and frail, while the tight interplay of bass and drums with electronic effects and breakbeats provide a driving pulse. The band blends momentous hard rock anthems with a tough punch of electronica. They dropped their debut album "I Don't Love You" in August 2019, followed in the spring of 2021 by the EP "Not Your Kind". Last year, the fearless foursome teamed up with Amaranthe singer Elise Ryd to write a Eurovision Song Contest entry for Finland, Hurricane, which ended up at 2nd place in the national finals.

Averagekidluke

Finnish-American rapper Averagekidluke was discovered on Soundcloud when he was merely 19 years old. It did not take long until he impressed major A&R’s with his imposing flow and melodic rapping. First Averagekidluke signed to Warner Music Finland as one of the label's main export artists. In 2022 Averagekidluke inked his first international record deal with Parlophone UK. His 2021 debut ep "Promised Neverland" was followed by the singles “Gone" and “No Good 4 U” in 2022.

Elia Lombardini

Elia Lombardini is a Finnish-Italian composer, producer and violinist. His debut album "In Death and the Hunger for a Thousand Lives" is an exceptional mix of classical music, minimalism and maximalism with (heavy) electronic overtones. Entirely written, arranged, performed and produced by Lombardini, the record is an exciting addition to Finland’s illustrious history of classical music. Lombardini’s experience ranges from indie pop to electronic music to folk bands before embarking on his solo career.

Suistamon Sähkö

Suistamon Sähkö seems to gain momentum gig by gig and cheerfully moves through ethno techno and smoke shack sounds to the world of hip hop like the genre-hopping hybrid they are. The group favours a boisterous rave atmosphere, synthesizer buzz, rap declarations and a Soviet-made accordion, making the audience move and the cottage floor shake. The Suistamon Sähkö rhythm universe is a rambunctious mix of primitive primordial forces and experimental dance music. In addition to Finnish venues, his spark has also flown to international arenas in Germany, France and Russia.
