This year marks the 70th birthday of renowned Finnish contemporary composer Kaija Saariaho. Celebrate the occasion with Saariaho's music and articles on her long and groundbreaking career!
During the year, musicians from across the Finnish classical music scene have embarked upon a historic collaboration, inspired by Kaija Saariaho’s music. This collaboration culminated in October 2022 with Kaija Saariaho 70, a series of events across Finland in celebration of the composer’s 70th birthday on October 14.
Music Finland celebrates Saariaho’s birthday with a playlist curated by Export Manager Heidi Kuusava. The Spotify playlist, intended to be as versatile as possible, includes Saariaho’s solo and chamber music works, orchestral, choral and electro-acoustic works, as well as an excerpt from the opera L'amour de loin.
