Relevant Tones radio program takes a look at Finnish contemporary music

Radio show Relevant Tones’ host Seth Boustead and producer Jesse McQuarters recently travelled to Helsinki to make a programme about classical and contemporary music in Finland. The website describes the first part of the program as follows:

The next installment of In the Field brings us to a country that has exported a dizzying list of big name composers and conductors in the last couple of decades: Finland. We’ll talk with established composers and rising stars about their music and the lasting influence of the Sibelius Academy.

Kaija Saariaho, Kalevi Aho, Lotta Wennäkoski and many more composers are presented in the show. Listen to the first part here and second part here.

Relevant Tones is a show on Chicago-based radio 98.7 WFMT, which is considered one of the most important broadcasters of classical music in North America.
