How rapper Elastinen came to collaborate with Snoop Dogg

One of Finland’s most prominent rappers, Elastinen, got a surprising hip hop heavyweight to feature on his new album. The rapper’s album Iso Kuva, which was released on April 10 via Rähinä Records, features none other than the multi-million selling hip hop legend Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg’s guest spot on Elastinen’s album was organised by Result Entertainment's (Axl Smith, Krista Siegfrids) Head of Artist Management Jussi Hautala who commented on the deal:

“The collaboration started a year ago with Elastinen’s initial thought on getting Snoop Dogg on his upcoming album. People at Rähinä Records heard that me and our artists have been in talks with Snoop’s management company earlier and asked if I can hook them up. So after contacting Snoop’s label and management we managed to get a pre-green light which moved on to be closed in last year’s Blockfest hiphop festival in Tampere, where Snoop was set to be perform”, Hautala says.

“The two gentlemen met at the festival and shaked on the collaboration, so all I had to do after that was a half a year contract negotiations to get the deal done right. After a lot of phone calls and emails we inked the deal in LA early this year,” Hautala commented.

Elastinen has been one of the most popular rappers in Finland for over 15 years, ever since his band Fintelligens released their first chart-topping hits back in 1999. Rähinä Records, the label which Elastinen runs, has released some of the best selling hip hop albums in Finland.

In the fall Elastinen will perform two nights in a row at Hartwall Arena, which is one of the largest arenas in Finland. Hip hop is currently one of the hottest music genres in Finland – last year rapper Cheek made history by being the first Finnish artist to perform at Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium.
