Finnish folk and world professionals networked in Berlin

Eight Finnish music professionals representing the folk and world music scene took part in a networking trip to Berlin, taking place 18-20 November. The three-day programme consisted of company visits, lectures, roundtables and networking events.

Music Finland organised the trip as a part of the Aus Finnland initiative with Uta Bretsch Communications as a local consultant and the Finnish Institute in Berlin as a cooperative partner.

Many of the participants were musicians who also work as producers or agents in the music business. Besides gaining know-how on the German world music market, they also had a chance to build networks and pitch their own music to the local professionals.

The concrete results will follow afterwards, but already at this point the distinguished radio channel Deutschlandradio Kultur picked the song ’Piilosilla’ from Saaga Ensemble for regular radio play on the channel. Additionally, the German music business magazine Musikmarkt published a report on the networking trip. Read the article in German here.
