Finnish music showcase in Zürich
8 December 2016

Within the context of the Aus Finnland project, Music Finland produces the first ever independent Finnish music showcase event in Switzerland, in the main Swiss-German-speaking music industry city Zürich.

The event consists of a Swiss-Finnish music industry networking and matchmaking dinner and an evening of three concerts with fresh new Finnish music, mixed with a real/regular concert audience.

The event aims to bring out unique Finnish music and stimulate, support and facilitate the export of FInnish Music to Switzerland.

The application period has ended.  Jaakko Aukusti, The Holy and Have You Ever Seen The Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS? were chosen as showcase bands.

The bands were curated by a Swiss music industry and press jury.

Jaakko Aukusti

Hailing from Turku, Jaakko Aukusti is a musician/multi-instrumentalist who makes sort-of-pop-ish music coloured with playful arrangements and unconventional song structures. His single Himalaya grabbed the attention of Clash, The Line of Best Fit, Fame Magazine, and Tracker Magazin.  His music has been described to being something like Mew would do if they locked themselves in a studio with a bag of Ecstacy. Jaakko Aukusti is currently recording his debut album which is set to be released in 2016.

The Holy

The Holy’s anthemic and stadium-ready indie rock is equally melancholy as it is uplifting – the Helsinki-based quintet has already been compared to the likes of U2 and Arcade Fire. Equipped with two drummers, big guitars and atmospheric synths, The Holy released their five-track debut ep More Escher and Random Notes through Soliti Records in August.

Have You Ever Seen the Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS?

Have You Ever Seen the Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS? is a trio, whose influences come from a rather wide range of genres: from garage rock to doo-wop, rock'n'roll to 80's dream pop and 60's soul and girl groups. Have You Ever Seen the Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS' debut album Teenage Sweetheart was released on September 2015 and they have already been noticed by media such as Nothing But Hope And Passion, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash Magazine, Forbes and Consequence Of Sound.

The event is produced in cooperation with local Swiss management, label and booking agency Radicalis and show & festival promoter Lauter and is supported by Music Finland’s Aus Finnland project partners the German music PR, marketing and consulting agency FACTORY 92 and the Finnish Embassy in Switzerland.
