Finnish line-up

Freeweights

Freeweights is an escape to the closing hours of your favorite discotheque. A flickering neon sign guiding the way for all the broken hearted souls to soothe their pain with some dance and music. Since 2012 this Helsinki based pop group has been developing their bold mix of retro-esque synth pop and modern electro-soul. Their songs are bound to move your dancing feet and make you feel like hugging someone.

Mr Peter Hayden

Mr Peter Hayden, a hairy quintet who look as though they should be tossing off the Finnish mainstay, metal. Instead, they meld the ebb and flow of Glenn Branca to a deconstructed rock nodding towards Sunn O))). At first seeming full-on noise, closer listening reveals something rigorously formal. The music progresses through climaxes and themes in the manner of a symphony.

Noah Kin

Noah Kin, born 1994, is a Finnish-Nigerian rapper and producer from Helsinki. Already an established artist in Finland, the single releases from his latest album “Now You See” have been attracting attention from outside his home country and despite his young age he has already performed in the UK, Germany, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, Estonia and Holland.

His latest album introduces an original and eccentric sound that has its roots deep in modern electronic beats. A style Noah Kin particularly excels in is his sharp rapping style mixed with his modern tone of voice.

Redder

Redder, a duo consisting of Frans Saraste and Vesa Hoikka, describes their sound as a dark combination of folk and trip-hop, while being an electronic band they still have a strong focus in songwriting. Their self-released first EP in 2013 got widely featured by tastemakers such as The Line Of Best Fit and 405. Their live performances which combine an intense and mesmerising audiovisual experience are something to look for.

The love for playing real instruments and working on their live gig set ups made them develop their musical tone, mixing more and more live instruments (trumpet, clarinet, piano, guitar) into their sound. This, combined with visuals by VJ Kristian Äijö, Redder’s third official member, merges into an interesting and dynamic live performance.

Steve 'n' Seagulls

Five nutcases, a whole bunch of instruments and Finnish countryside. That adds up to Steve ‘n’ Seagulls. This hillbilly crew, even though active since 2011, hit like a hammer in the summer of 2014 with their YouTube videos and versions of classics like The Trooper and Thunderstruck. ‘Nuff said, you have to see and hear this yourself. Banjo keeps a rollin’ and accordion keeps on burnin’. Your life will probably be quite the same but better after this band and you have met in a twisted musical experience that makes you feel good.
Their debut album FARM MACHINE will be released internationally by Spinefarm records in April 2015.
