Kicking off on October 2, Waves Vienna – Music Festival & Conference is a yearly international showcase festival for pop music in Vienna, Austria. Focusing mainly on alternative and indie music, the festival takes place in a series of music venues over the weekend.

This year's edition of Waves Vienna has three Finnish artists on the bill.
Noah Kin is a 20-year old Finnish-Nigerian rapper/producer from Helsinki. His third album, Now You See came out in March. “Noah Kin is going to be the next big thing in hip-hop” -MTV District.

Mirel Wagner’s Sub Pop debut When the Cellar Children See the Light of the Day has been released to critical praise. MOJO Magazine gave the album 5/5 and named it the album of the week, commenting ” This album is more clinging than quicksand, it is uncompromising, transcendent voodoo.” Other positive reviews came from The Line of Best Fit (8/10 ”many ways an astounding album”), UNcut Magazine (8/10), The 405 (8/10) and Pitchfork (7.4./10).

Jaakko Eino Kalevi
Jaakko Eino Kalevi signed last year a record deal with Domino Records' subisidiary Weird World Records, making him the first Nordic artist to sign with the label. As a solo artist he makes pleasantly psychedelic pop songs full of hints from funk, disco, jazz, dub and new wave. He writes, performs and records them by himself, as can be heard on his first release for Weird World, the Dreamzone EP.
