Hokuo Music Fest presents Nordic music to Tokyo on November 19 to 20. The event comprises of a Nordic-Japanese Trade Day, seminar and showcase event Hokuo Music Night, which is focused on indie and electronic music.

The concept of Hokuo Music Fest was first introduced in 2013 when the Nordic showcase Hokuo Music Night joined forces with a metal showcase previously organized by the Finnish export office. The first Hokuo Music Fest was a success. Therefore in 2014, the Nordics continue to introduce the best of their music to the Japanese market and build international music industry networks together. The Japanese music market is the second largest music market in the world, and the sales of physical recordings are still high. The Hokuo Music Fest local partner, Creativeman, hosts some of Japan’s biggest festivals such as Loud Park and Summer Sonic and arranges most of the international artists’ shows in Japan.

“Hokuo Music Fest helped to connect to the Japanese way of business on a personal level. This will grant us a different engagement dealing about our releases and also giving the opportunity to explore new business territories that are very much only typical for Japan the way its set-up. Highly recommended!” - Simon Füllemann, Head of Marketing & Exports, Indie Recordings AS

“This was one of the most important business trips we went to in 2013 and we hope to go back the following years.” Carl-Marcus Gidlöf, Despotz Records
